Movies Night at Robert Menzies College

Dear SSA members

Exams are just round the corner and i know everyone is getting all stressed up. You know you need to destress, relax and chill a little bit. We are going to have a SSA movie night just for you to do that.

Date: 1st of November (Saturday)
Venue: Robert Menzie College
Time: 6.30 p.m

The movie to be screened will be a Singaporean movie and currently there are 4 we can choose from

These are all Singapore movies. Singaporeans unite and support our local productions. Non-Singaporean friends who are interested to understand our Singaporean culture better should come and watch it and get a laugh out of the Singaporean English (Singlish).

The movie that will be screened will be determined on the day itself and of course it involves you getting to vote for which one you wanna watch. Bring your friends along and  your own food and drinks (non-alcoholic) to get you through the movie.  Popcorn will be provided!!! It is going to be a very exciting evening and hope that everyone will be able to make it down.

Please respond to this e-mail and let us know if you will be coming down so we can pop enough corn for everyone.

Cheers
Member Relation Officer
Stanley

Singapore Camp

Dearest members,

SIF will be organising a camp called Camp Singapore from 17 July to 29 July 2008. We are looking for volunteers who will be back in Singapore during that time and would like to volunteer with us.

Camp Singapore 2008, organised by the Singapore International Foundation aims to help students from Singapore living overseas to learn something about Singapore’s history, beliefs, cultural practices and festivals celebrated by many ethnic groups. The students will also get a chance to sample local school life, and find out about local society in general. Learning is experiential and conducted through a host of fun indoor and outdoor activities.

SIF is currently looking for youths who are interested in working with children during the Camp, and to help facilitate activities. If you are interested in having a chance to teach children about Singapore’s traditions, culture and history, fill in the form and sign up now!
Please fill up the volunteer application form and post/fax/email them to the camp coordinator Mr Joseph Lee (email: joseph.lee@sif.org,sg, Tel: +65 68378761, fax: 65 6831 8711). The camp coordinator will contact the volunteers directly with more details.
If any of your members have any questions regarding the camp, you can contact the camp coordinator via email.

WELCOME

What a fantastic orientation week we had @ mq!

Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers. Your contribution is greatly appreciated. I'm glad to
report that we have 26 new members signed up this semester! I'm sure we'll have a blast with our growing SSA.

To kick things off this year, we have "in process" many social events such as a welcoming BBQ, Dinner at "Kopitiam at 282", a paintball "Grilling" session with the MSA (Malaysian Students' Association) and a Royal Easter Show outing in the mid term hols! And a trip down to Bondi Beach just to chill and relax, before we hit our exams.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at our upcoming events.
